You Think You Know...But (pt. 20)

Silence. Shock. Anger. Regret.  All of these things ran through Robin’s mind in the seconds after she felt Jay’s hand across her face.  She stumbled backwards, catching her balance before clasping her hand to her cheek.  She could not believe what had just happened.  Robin, had never been hit by any man; not even her father, so at first she wasn’t quite sure how to react.  She could see the regret on his face and a tiny inkling of her being could understand his reaction.  She had just taken his daughter from him, but for him to react in such a violent manner was something she could not, would not tolerate.

Jay’s hand was trembling.  He had never put his hand on a woman in any violent way but now he had just slapped his wife.  He could hear his father’s voice ringing in his head saying “Boy, you don’t ever put your hand on a woman.”  He felt weak, like a lesser man than he had been just a moment before.  “Robin…I…I didn’t mean to do that.” He stammered over his words as he watched her expression change from shock to rage.  Her face told him that she was done talking and before he could form another thought, a high heel shoe flew over Robin’s shoulder and right into his forehead.

The next few moment were somewhat of a blur for Jay, as three different types of high heel shoes pummeled him.  The girls were merciless, as they were able to knock him to the ground where they proceeded to punch, kick, stomp and hit Jay with their fist, feet and high heels.  The beating seemed to last forever and though he could have stopped the girls before things had gotten as bad as they were at that time; he just lie their and took the beating he felt he deserved.
