ONE NIGHT....5

Vanessa still did not know how she got pregnant. She and Jason were always so careful.  They always used protection, well except that one time a few months ago, at the New Year’s Eve masquerade party. Maybe one of the condoms broke.  However it happened, she was not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.  This baby is the key to her happiness.  She will have her man and his child.  She had a lot she needed to do, she had a wedding to plan, because Jason’s going to marry her, and she will need to find a wedding planner asap.  She will have to plan a quickie wedding so that she can actually fit into a wedding dress, before she completely blows up and has to wear a sheet.  She needed to call her sisters and her friends as soon as she left work today.  She had a long weekend ahead of her.

As she was typing up a proposal for Jason, she looked up and saw his wife Donna coming down the hall. Immediately her face got hard and her eyes went cold.  She hated Donna, for no other reason, than she was what was keeping Jason from being with her.  But that was all about to change.  What she would give to see her face when Jason told her he was leaving her.

“Good Afternoon Mrs. Brooks”

“Hey Vanessa, girl haven’t I told you to call me Donna?”

“How are you?”

I’m Fine, Donna.  How are you?”

“I have been showing homes all day, and I am beat.”

“Is Jason in his office?”

“Yes he is I will tell him you are here”

I told Jason his wife was here, and it almost seemed like he was happy she was there.  Then I realized he has to continue the façade, at least at the office.  

“You can go right on in Mrs.…Donna.”

She turned to go, but turned around and said,

“Vanessa, I know that we don’t know each other very well, but I just wanted to let you know that if you ever need anything let me know, I know that Jason has already offered you his assistance, but please don’t hesitate to ask if you need help.”

“What are you talking about?”

“Oh, I’m sorry.” “I didn’t think before I spoke.”  I know that maybe you did not want Jason to tell me, but he did.” “Only because I heard Brandon mention it.”

“So Jason told you?”  “About everything?”

“Well, he told me about the affair.”

“I know that you must be really upset right now, but I just wanted you to know that everything will be ok.”

“Oh I know it will all be ok, Jason told me it would be.”

“Good. Jason plans to have a talk with Kyle, so this situation should be resolved soon.”

“Kyle, what does Kyle have to do with this?”

“It’s ok Vanessa; Jason told me that you and Kyle were having an affair.”

“Kyle and I never had an affair, and the baby I’m carrying is not Kyle’s baby”

“What!”  “What are you talking about?”  “Who were you having an affair with?”  “What do you mean, baby?”  You’re pregnant Vanessa?”

“You know I think it’s best if I let Jason tell you.”

“Jason, why would Jason need to tell me?”

I turned my head to see Jason standing there, with a shocked look on his face.  Donna turned and the same time and saw him standing there.  He was smiling, but his smile quickly disappeared when he saw me and Donna talking.  He quickly walked over to where Donna was standing.

“Donna, baby what’s taking you so long?”

“Why did you tell me that Vanessa was having an affair with Kyle, when she wasn’t?”

“Did you know she was pregnant?”  “She said I should ask you about it.”  “Why should I be asking you about it Jason?”

“Donna please come into my office.”  I will tell you everything inside”

Donna followed Jason into his office, and he shut the door.

Oh how I wished I could be a fly on the wall, and hear the conversation going on in there right now.  Better yet I wish I was in there to see the look on her face when Jason told her that he was no longer in love with her, and that he was leaving her because he fell in love with me.  The icing on the cake would be watching her face crumble when he told her that he and I were having a baby. Damn I wish I was in there.
