ONE NIGHT.....10.5

Vanessa walked in the rain to her car, she did not care that she did not have an umbrella and was getting drenched.  How could he do this to me?  He had not even told me.  Mostly likely he did not plan on telling me.  I love him more than anything, and this is how he treats me.  I am carrying his child.  He has made love to me countless times.  He told me we were going to be together.  That lying son of a bitch.  Now that Donna was pregnant, the only trump card Vanessa had was worthless now. Knowing Jason he will want to be with his wife and his child.

Vanessa got in her car and sat there and cried.  She got her purse and searched for her phone.  She needed to call Brandon. Right now she needed him.  Once she tells him that Donna is having Jason’s baby, he will go crazy.  Just like her, his plans on getting the one he loves will end.  Damn she needed to stop crying long enough to make the call, but she couldn’t.  She felt as if someone had ripped her heart right out of her chest.  What was she going to do now?  How can she compete with Donna now?  Vanessa dialed Brandon’s number hoping he would be there.  He picked up on the third ring.

“Yeah”

“Brandon, its Vanessa.”

“Hey, what’s up?  “Why are you crying?

“Donna came by the office today to see Jason, and she told me she was pregnant”

Vanessa did not here Brandon say anything.

“Hello, did you hear what I said?  “Donna is pregnant with Jason’s baby.”

“I heard you, and yes I know she is pregnant.”

“You knew?  “How long did you know?”

“I found out when I went to the hospital to see her, after her fall at the market.”

“That’s when she and Jason found out as well.”

“That was 3 weeks ago!  And Jason never said a word to me.”

“Well he did not plan on telling you.”

“What do you mean?”

“Well I really don’t want to say to much but the moment he found out that Donna was pregnant he has been trying to figure out a way to get you to go away.  He is hoping he can pay you enough money to leave.”

“What, but I am carrying his baby!”

“That’s his other problem he wants you to give him full custody of the baby once it’s born.”

“Over my dead, rotten corpse.”  “If we can’t raise our child together, then he will never see my baby again.”

“The only way for you guys to be together is for Donna to leave him.”  “The only way Donna will leave him now is for her to find out about you, and the baby.”

“So I’m just supposed to go and tell her?”

“No, I’m already handling that. All I need you to do is be ready because she will come to you asking questions.”  “Be honest about the affair.”  “But make sure that you don’t tell her about my involvement.”

“Ok I won’t tell her about us.” “but what am I going to do Brandon, I feel so stupid”

“That’s all on you sweetheart, I hired you to do a job not fall in love.”  “Hopefully next time you’ll be smarter.”

“What do you mean next time?”  There won’t be a next time.”  “I have a baby to take care of now, that life was over the minute I found out I was pregnant.”  “Look I’ve got to get going I have a doctor’s appt.”

“Where is your appt?”

“Downtown”  “Why?”

“Well I was wondering that since there possibility that I may be the father, then maybe I can go with you?”

“That’s not necessary, really Brandon.”

“I know it’s not necessary but I would like to go with you.”

Vanessa thought about it for a minute, and decided to let him come with her.  She really did not want to go alone anyway.  She gave him the address, and it turned out that he was close by.  He said he would wait for her there.  He was not her first choice but she felt better having someone there with her.  She looked up at the sky and said a little prayer.

“Lord what am I going to do now?”
