The Crossover, pt 8... Just being nasty or am I?
The Crossover pt 8, Just being Nasty……..or am I. Ray knocked on the bathroom door almost 10 minutes later. She did not want to embarrass Pinkey anymore than her present and obvious discomfort. Ray whispered several calming, yet, seductive statements through the door. Pinkey smiled inwardly at Ray’s attempts to ease her pain. Pinkey knew she could not free face her at this time. Ray told her we don’t have to have sex this morning. It is not about the she said, lying through her teeth. I will give you a towel, washrag, a pair of unused boxers, a tee shirt, and some sweat pants. We can lay down, eat, talk, and watch TV or some movies. The decision is yours, Ray said. Pinkey sat on her toilet for what felt like forever. She knew she needed a shower, besides talking would be nice. One of her mother’s saying popped into her mind, can’t keep anyone pinned down that you don’t want to be with. She didn’t understand it then, and still doesn’t. She finally accepted Ray’s offer by opening the bathroom door. She has tears streaming down her face. Ray gently wiped them away. She proceeded to hand Pinkey a clean thick towel and washrag. Ray told her to take her time. I will order us some Chinese food. What do you want? She asked. Pinkey spoke up quickly…spicy shrimp friend rice and an order of wings, fried hard. She said. Ray said ok. She told Pinkey what she was ordering; Pork fried rice, rib tips, and pint of shrimp lo mien, and that she could have some if she wanted. She walked away heading towards her cordless phone hanging in the kitchen. Ray placed the order. She sat in the livingroom watching her favorite movie, Men in Black. She loved this movie. Pinkey showered for 45 minutes. She soaped and rinsed several times until she felt cleansed of her previous sexual escapades. When she stepped out of the shower, she repeatedly patted herself off. Ray also offered her some lotion and some secret deodorant. Pinkey took her time lotion her skin. She wasn’t used to this kind of lotion, or kindness. The lotion wasn’t the typical kind that could be purchased from Wal-mart. Her skin felt silky and rejuvenated. Lastly, Pinkey put on the items that she was given. She took one last look at herself before exiting the bathroom. She left the towels and her old attire where Ray has instructed. When she walked into the livingroom, Ray has their meals dished out on plates, three cold Coronas, and a movie playing. Pinkey actually felt like she was on a date. Ray was nothing like Savoy, at least up to this point. Pinkey said thank you once again. Her mood has been lightened. Ray and Pinkey ate, and laughed merrily while watching Men in Black 1 and 2. They would comment on their parts and then quieted again. Once the credits rolled for the Men in Black sequel, Ray yawned and got up. She turned to Pinkey, pulling her up as well. They headed towards Ray’s bedroom once more this time they only had sleep on their minds. Pinkey couldn’t hold her tongue any longer. She had to sincerely thank her for her kindness somehow. Pinkey abruptly stopped Ray in her hallway; Ray worriedly asked her what’s wrong? Pinkey managed to say nothing without her voice crackling. She ssshh’d Ray and continued her thoughts. She told Ray that she’s soft and sensitive the total opposite of Savoy. Ray laughed aloud. She never heard that before. Pinkey asked, are you laughing at me? Ray assertively remarked no, and then asked where this is coming from? Pinkey collapsed into her arms, leaning against Ray’s body. She couldn’t hold back her tears anymore. Ray motioned her towards the bedroom. When they entered, Ray sat Pinkey on her bed, and then handed her some tissues that she pulled from her nightstand. Pinkey thanked her. Ray sat next to her waiting for her to stop crying and calm down. Fifteen minutes had passed before Pinkey regained her composure; she was embarrassed for the second time this early in the morning. Ray leaned back on her bed wondering what the hell was going on with this board. She thought I didn’t sign up for this. I have enough drama going on in my life. Ray just shook her head annoyed. While Ray dealt with Pinkey’s issues across town, Savoy was still hyped about seeing Coca in a couple of weeks. He didn’t expect too much of a ruse out of Marcus since he continued to claim he loves, and loves and only wants Jay. This would be his true test. Savoy couldn’t wait. He hoped this would bring Jay back into his fold in more ways than one. He wondered how this hoe got home. He had no intentions of calling her to find out. As far as he was concerned she has been dismissed, there would be no second time around. Savoy’s energy is now on Coca’s visit. Lyric laid in bed thinking about everything that has occurred over the last few weeks. She was thankful to the man above that no one got seriously hurt and that Jay didn’t lose her baby. Lyric couldn’t imagine what that would have done to her friend; she was barely herself these days. She couldn’t wait until the baby shower. Jay would be just about 7 and half months pregnant. She asked Jay and Marcus to learn the sex of the baby, but they both refused. She was picturing the shower in her mind. After several changes implemented by the mother to be the color scheme would be mint green and yellow. The decorations, specialty drinks, etc would be in those colors or close to as well. Most of the drinks on the menu were creative, at least, Lyric thought so. The guest had to order their drinks by baby names or nicknames. She instructed the owner of Club One to inform all of his bartenders so there shouldn’t be any problems. If anything were to jump off the person(s) would be escorted out. The DJ has been paid for by other means. Lyric was still hyped with anticipation. She didn’t know that Marcus personally knew DJ Quick Silva, which is why he agreed to DJ and host the baby shower. They saved a lot of money by not having to pay him. Although, Marcus hit him off on the back end with the goody-goodness. Whatever Lyric didn’t spend, she placed in an account. She told Jay and Marcus once they named the baby the account would be transferred to his or her name. Marcus said nothing. He was impressed that she had money left over. He had given Lyric almost 20 grand. He didn’t know how much Jay put up of her money since she didn’t want him involved in the planning stages. Lyric suspected Jay was sitting on a healthy nest egg. She handed over 25 grand without blinking an eye. Lyric, also, knew Jay didn’t live a lavish lifestyle. She had her eye on the bigger prize until these recent turn of events, pregnancy. Lyric couldn’t fathom that they handed over 45 grand for a baby shower. She had a stash as well; however, she realized it was nothing compared to theirs. She had to quickly step her game up. She welcomed the opportunity. She knew she couldn’t do too much without folks noticing. She planned on calling her cousin Jah tomorrow. She knew he would help her build her stack. Especially after being seen popping bottles with the police. Lyric believed the baby shower will bring out even more haters. Jay already had enough problems. She tried to talk to Marcus about cancelling the baby shower twice in the last week. He said he refuses to back down. Lyric knows he is as worried as she is, but he had to man up due to his hood status. He hoped no one would come to Club One to be disrespectful there would be too many goons with guns on their guard, awaiting Marcus’ instructions. Lyric shook her head, deciding she needed to get some rest. She was going with Jay to her doctor’s appointment since Marcus is unable to go. It seemed that more he wanted out; the more the streets were calling his name so far he has been successful in denying the call of the wild. She worried that there was something more important motivating him. She wanted to have lunch or dinner with him to discuss this further. It didn’t take Lyric long to fall into La-La land. While she slept peacefully, Ray was dumbfounded by what she was hearing from Pinkey. It started with the alleged rape by Savoy, and her asking Pinkey about her sudden interest in him. Pinkey told her how she and Marcus used to get down months ago, and how she unintentionally introduced the duo of Jay and Marcus to each other. Ray’s anger with Jay eased up tremendously. It shifted to Pinkey’s trifling ass. IF she hadn’t tried to set-up Jay she would have never met Marcus or had sec with him. Ray didn’t know what she wanted to do. She knew it was too late for “I’m Sorry” or taking back what Brock did to her. Her father warned her years ago about pillow talk and how it could a person killed. It was so true thought Ray. She wanted to smack the bitch shit out of Pinkey. Pinkey continued talking freely, unaware of the changes in Ray. She needed some rest and wanted to weigh her options in the morning. Pinkey didn’t catch the hint when she yawned. It got so bad Ray just nodded out several times. Pinkey didn’t notice the lack of responses; Ray bounced back several minutes later. When she tuned Pinkey back in, Pinkey confessed she only hooked up with Savoy hoping to get next to Marcus. Ray interrupted her by saying I can help you with that. Ray proposed a plan that would make both of them happy. Ray never mentioned to Pinkey why she wanted Marcus out of the way. It didn’t seem to matter to her one way or the other. All she kept talking about was ending their relationship so she could have Marcus back to herself. Jay being unable to sleep woke up Marcus from his peacefully sleep. Marcus moved some of her belongings into his apartment after the shooting. He was disappointed that Jay refused to move in with him completely. He thought they had agreed to this when they first found out she was expecting. Marcus suspected a lot of these recent mind changes and impulsive behaviors were linked to the shooting even though Jay denied it. She claimed she wanted to remain independent. Marcus yawned loudly. He was somewhat upset that Jay woke up him knowing that he has a meeting with Jason in the morning regarding changes to his contract. He asked her lovingly if she needed anything…Jay’s replied nothing more than some attention. He just stared at her unsure of what to say and becoming quite uncertain of what the future was for them. Jay didn’t talk to him like she used to. Marcus wasn’t going to undo his commitment to her. He loved her too much, but her behavior was hurting him. He knew she wanted to react, handle her business like she’s accustom to doing; however, she couldn’t and it was slowly eating away at her. He observed she hasn’t been checking her blood pressure like she should and her ankles are swollen. He knew her ankles being swollen may not have anything to do with her pressure being up. It could be a pregnancy thing, due to the excess baby weight and her retaining water. He just didn’t know she won’t tell him anything. He suspected there was more to it. He didn’t want to push the issue with her. The ice between the, was already thinning. Marcus tried to stay up and be supportive but he dosed off 45 minutes later. Jay didn’t bother to wake him up again. She knew if he were a female eh would have rubbed her belly or something to soothe her worries. She got up. She wanted something to eat out of frustration, not hunger. She decided to make some pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and some iced tea instead of coffee. She wasn’t at home to get away with that guilty pleasure craving. She loved the smell of brewing coffee all of sudden. She pulled all of the ingredients that she needed from the fridge and cabinet. She mixed her pancakes, and assed a little taste of cinnamon to the mix. She then concentrated on her eggs. She mixed some powered onions, garlic, black peppers, hot sauce, Ms. Dash’s, and parsley, into her eggs. She turned to the stove and turned on the tow front burners. She turned to grab her pancake mix instead she saw a shadow figure in the moonlight coming through the livingroom window. She paused to make sure she wasn’t seeing things. Surely enough, she saw the figure jump down. She slowly backed up against the stove to turn off the burners. After she was sure they were off, she walked eagerly to the bedroom where she knew Marcus hid his gun. She pulled it, turned off the safety, and cocked it before heading back down the hallway. When she returned she noticed that the balcony door was open. Her and her belly inched quietly into the livingroom with Marcus’ gun aimed to fire. She bumped her toes against the couch leg. She yelped. He watched her take his gun when he snapped out of his sleep when he heard the drawer to the nightstand open. Seconds later, Marcus was on her heels with his Glock up and ready. He turned on the livingroom light to see what the hell was going on. Both he and Jay were surprised at what they saw someone had broken into his apartment looking for something. The person or persons slashed up his sofa and love seat thinking that was where he hid his stash. He is no dummy. Marcus’ money is in the bank and invested wisely. Any money he had stored in his apartment was in his floor safe. Marcus didn’t bother calling the police they would ask to many questions. He didn’t want Detective Cobbs all up in their business any more than she already was. All he knew was someone was testing his patience, and must really want to lose their life. This was the second time Jay and his unborn child were involved in the unknown. He told Jay to go back to bed. He would be in there shortly. He had some calls to make. Jay walked back down the hall with his gun still in her hand, with the safety off. She wasn’t taking any chances. Marcus noticed that the culprits went through his CD collection. He had some unused beats placed there to take with him to his meeting with Jason. He sighed, and was grateful that they were still there. Meanwhile, some of his other CD cases are missing. They are three of his first productions from back in the day when he first started producing. He wondered who would want those old beats, better yet, who was aware of them other than him. He didn’t even play them; well it has been a while since he played them for motivation anyway. He played them for Jay a few months ago giving her insight into what he enjoyed doing more than dope dealing and fighting. The only other person he had shared his creations with was Coca. He hasn’t heard from his first love in a very long time and doubts seriously she would do this to him. Also she doesn’t know where his lives nowadays. Marcus shook off his thoughts and went back to bed after closing the window. He held Jay close until he has to get up for his appointment, which he wished he could cancel. He had a lot on his mind this morning. Lyric came over a few hours later. She looked around the apartment. She couldn’t stop herself from inquiring if Marcus and Jay had fought this morning. Jay looked at her and said bitch don’t insult me…you know I will not let anyone put their fucking hands on me especially in the manner you are insinuating. She continued since you want to be nosey and shit, someone broke in last night. Lyric couldn’t believe it. She said what is going on with y’all? First you get shot at, and now they are breaking in while you all sleep. Lyric blatantly said someone has it out for y’all. I knew you and Marcus had haters but this is getting out of hand. Jay told her don’t worry about it. My pregnancy is almost over, and the countdown begins after my baby shower. Jay made Lyric and herself some breakfast. She never finished making her meal from earlier. She wasn’t really hungry, but she knew she had to eat something. Over breakfast, they talked about her doctor’s appointment. She confided in Lyric that she finally wanted to know the sex of the baby. Lyric told her it is her decision to know or not. Jay told her that she and Marcus promised each other that they would wait until the baby was born. Jay was having second thoughts due to everything that was going on around her. She wanted to be aware of the one thing in her life that is most important to her. Lyric said she understood, but told Jay to inform Marcus of her feelings and why the sudden change of heart. She told her you never know he may be feeling the same way with all the things surrounding you all presently. Jay didn’t want to ruin the surprise for him…he was having fun imagining how life would be with a boy or girl. Lyric didn’t say anything else she knew her best friend had made up her mind everyone. They left the house about an hour later. Lyric drove one of Marcus’ vehicles. He was adamant that Jay used one of his cars from now on. Once they arrived at the doctor’s office. Jay asked Lyric to wait for her in the waiting area while she checked in with the receptionist. She didn’t want anyone knowing the true nature of her visit. The last time she visited the doctor she was told that there may be some complications with the baby. Jay didn’t know what to say or do then. She just sat there until the doctor called in Marcus to get her. She managed to ask to the doctor not tell Marcus at the moment until further testing was done. She was scheduled for several different tests to figure out what was going on…only she knew this was the follow up exam. She was glad when Marcus said he couldn’t make it. It was killing her inside to keep this from him, but she wanted to hear of the details alone before emotions and ideas went wild between them. Lately, things have been off centered with them due to her mood swings, and erratic behavior. Marcus has been tolerant, but she didn’t know how much longer this was going to last. She and Lyric waited until her name was called. She hugged Lyric tightly before walking towards the back. Lyric wondered what that was about, but her inquiry would have to wait until later. She had tears rolling down her face as she entered the exam room 3. The nurse attending to her asked if everything was alright, is she in any pain? Jay said no pain; just a lot is on my mind. The nurse touched her shoulder and this made her pussy jump. She hasn’t had that feeling in a long time. Jay smiled at the nurse as the nurse checked her weight, blood pressure, and ensured that she didn’t have a fever. Once the nurse completed her routine, she told Jay that the doctor will be in shortly. Lyric sat in the waiting area impatiently tapping her feet with nervous energy. She couldn’t believe Jay would go behind Marcus’ back. Back in the exam room, Jay become still when the doctor entered the room. She sat perfectly still waiting for the bad news as the doctor took her seat. The doctor asked her if she was okay, she appeared shaken. The doctor suspected her nerves were on fire waiting for the news she had to share with her. Jay in her mind didn’t know how she was going to tell the news to Marcus without him flipping. It would hurt him, but she knew she had to do it. Meanwhile, Marcus was sitting in his meeting when his internal alarms starting sounding off there was something going on that he wasn’t going to like. He needs to get a hold of himself before things got ugly. He was itching to get out of his meeting with Jason; however, Flaming Records had another hit single on their hand. Jason played the song for him, and Marcus didn’t remember giving him that beat. It was one of his earlier creations. He asked Jason where did he get that beat from…when one of the guys said at the table said freeze you all are under arrest. Marcus sat there shocked and thinking what the fuck is going on here. He looked around to see who this dude could possibly be talking to. Jason started laughing and told his associate to sit down and stop playing. Marcus was not in a jovial mood especially after his early morning experience. He wanted answers. He looked directly at Jason, asking what is up... are we having problems. Jason didn’t need any additional issues in his life. He said no it is a joke dude calm down. Marcus said fuck that how did you get that beat? Jason said from you of course, Marcuse said naw motherfucker I never shared that beat with anyone in the industry and I don’t plan on doing it now. Marcus reminded Jason of the terms f their contract outside of the cash involvement. Jason had indeed forgotten about that. He thought he was dealing with the typical drug dealer from the hood. Marcus’ reputation was true. He is on top of his game, Jason knew not to try him again, He couldn’t tell Marcus who had broken into his apartment, and it would cause even more problems. It would be easier just to hand everything over, and increase the value of his contract. He was still getting over on him to some degree, anyway. Marcus was not amused. He wanted to know how his old beat got into Jason hands, and his apartment was broken into this morning was not a coincidence. He couldn’t believe that someone was so jealous of him or Jay or the both of them that they resorted to these extreme antics. Marcus thought to himself this shit has to stop my child will be here soon and I do not want this going on around him or her. Marcus listened to Jason back paddle for 20 minutes before he had enough. He told Jason that his lawyer will be contacting him along with the authorities. Marcus made sure his attorney was online and heard everything that transpired from the moment Jason played his old beat. Only Marcus knew it was a sample from the O’Jays earlier unpublished material, he disliked sampling but he loved the song so much it reminded him of his first love. He despised her now and wondered why he was thinking about Coca of all people. Her reappearance would bring nothing but trouble. She knew a lot about his history. If she were to resurface she would not like the fact that Jay is carrying his child, she wanted that honor. They had talked about it numerous times. She didn’t end up getting pregnant after all the sex they had together prior to their argument that evening that broke them up. Marcus pretended he was calling his attorney; however, he was online the entire time. He repeated what he said to Jason just for performance sake his attorney said he’s on it. Jason become nervous he couldn’t afford any drama with the label or personally especially after the major clean up his uncles had to do with his cousins, Mercedes and Hector. Marcus, also, knew his attorney would contact Jason’s uncles if he wasn’t mistaken one of his uncle’s is a high profile criminal attorney based in New York. Marcus did his homework on Flaming Records and its ownership before he agreed to work with Jason and sign his contract. Marcus knew Jason felt he was getting over on him. Marcus knew he wasn’t. He loved making music; however, it covered his lifestyle and the money he had in the bank from the dope game. Marcus learned the life expectancy of a song early in the game. The average song only last a season or two it may play more often if you had a relationship with certain radio executives. Marcus was cool with several executives in Baltimore, Washington, and Virginia area and they educated him on how the pay to pay game worked or vice versa worked in his favor as a producer. He also had his attorney remove the clause that prohibited from his sampling or using his beats with another artist that wouldn’t work when he owned everything that he touched. Marcus didn’t share that piece of information with his home boys or Jay. He was worth a lot more than people think. He didn’t believe in advertising his own self worth. Jason was blown. He had to start making some calls.
