Part Four – Pray for Jay
One month later, Marcus hits the musical jackpot. He signs a deal with Jason of Flaming Records (Crossing Paths, coming soon) worth 3 million dollars over 2 years, with a signing bonus of half million upfront. He lucked up on this deal due to his latest production. He quietly worked with Dee Dread one of Flaming Records newest and hottest artist out currently. Her single “blame it on the rain” and its remix, which he also produced are taking over the airwaves in several markets. Jason needed airplay like this for his entire artist line up. He has a trio in Philadelphia that could use Marcus’ help with their production. Marcus forever a hustler told Jason he plans on opening two cash deposit accounts and a trust for his unborn child once they were established that’s all his royalty payments should be deposited. Jason was fully aware of Marcus a/k/a Lightening reputation; however, he had a power family behind him as well. Jason offered Marcus the contract to somewhat control how much money how much money he had to pay out for a successful track. He knew that Marcus and his attorney’s will be back soon to renegotiate the terms until then he will pocket the difference.
Marcus wanted to eventually leave the hood behind, but he knew it would require a lot of legal money and the courage not to get caught up. He had both. His weaknesses were Jay and his unborn child and he wasn’t trying to bring harm their way. Marcus shared his news with Jay. She is o proud of him.
Jay sensed this would shift the relationship between Marcus and Savoy since Savoy was used to making the most money out of the two. Marcus wasn’t greedy or trying to get caught up, while all Savoy cared about was street cred. Marcus was the fighter, Savoy well, no comment. She hoped Savoy understood this is legal money being made by his brother talent and not him trying to take over the hood. Although his music is played in every car driving through the hood even Savoy’s ride.
Releasing her thoughts, she spontaneously kissed him. The sexual attraction between them was even stronger now that she is pregnant. Marcus ran his fingers through her hair. Jay had just taken out her cornrows and her hair was all over her head. He didn’t care. He loved him some Jay. He massaged her spot located behind her left ear. Jay released a soft moan into his mouth, it wasn’t expected it just happened. He pulled back. He said I’m glad I can still trigger these responses from you. Jay turned crimson from blushing sol hard, there wasn’t much she could say. She loved this man. She purred like a kitten whenever he struck her cords. They just stood there in his livingroom soaking in each other. He enveloped her against his body. She felt his warmth. The baby must have too. He leaned down to kiss her neck while rubbing her stomach. She stopped him. Jay started rubbing on his booty. Marcus wasn’t particular fond of having his ass fondled. There were some traits of Jay’s that lingered from her previous lifestyle that he had to accept. He knew this move. It meant she was in the mood, not that she was ever not in the mood. They both were very sexual. He lifted her up and walked her to his couch. Her nipples were hard and protruding through her wife beater. Once he placed her on her back, he aimed for her left nipple – it is her most sensitive. Jay lifted her ass off the couch, trying to pull down her boxers. Marcus tried helping her. She paused long enough to push his hand towards her pussy. He laughed at her aggressiveness. He said you must really be horny. Jay didn’t respond. She just looked at him with lust in her eyes. He wasn’t totally laying on her so she was able to close her legs with his hand covering pussy. He knew she had to be careful with her. She kicked off her Tommy boy boxers and then spread eagle once again. Marcus’s fingers tiptoed down her strip of hair, which he had requested. When he reached her valley, he dipped his finger to the side of her clitoris. Jay was wetter than usual. He knew this reaction had nothing to do with his sudden money windfall since Jay was sitting on her own stack, which she thinks he doesn’t know about. She was used to money especially rolling with Savoy. Marcus parted her lips and sunk two fingers into her. Jay cum a few seconds after his fingers entered her. Marcus moved his fingers in and out of her. Jay began to match his thrust. She was on the urge of cumming again when he pulled out. She mumbled… damn you. He stood up and unbuckled is pants, allowing them to fall down on their own. His pulled at his boxers, and it travelled down as well. Jay is still amazed every time she sees his penis. She can’t believe she is taking in something so huge. He positioned himself over her without placing his weight on her. He then aimed his dick for the honey spot. Jay is far from loose. She is a perfect fit for him. He inched down while continuing to aim for her spot. Jay lifted her body to meet him; also she guided his member inside of her. Marcus quickly hit her back wall, which made Jay more than moan. She slightly jumped. He pulled out, went in – he did this repeatedly in quick sessions until she cum again and again. Marcus released after Jay’s fourth organism. He was glad she is already pregnant or she would have ended up pregnant. His release was intense, it even surprised Jay. She hoped he couldn’t get her pregnant again. She’s read of such occurrences online. She chuckled. Marcus asked her was so funny. She shared her thoughts. He couldn’t help laughing. They were so connected it was scary sometimes. He told her he had the same exact thought.
Later on in the week…Jay confessed to Savoy that she is with child. She told him she wouldn’t be much help over the next few months. She offered to help him with some other pressing matters. She knew Marcus didn’t want her near the block at all, but she had her own goals to consider and obtain. She’s only a third into the amount she would require to walk away without looking back. Savoy was not pleased with her news. He was excited about the baby. Yet, he is worried about their friendship. It meant Jay would pull from him even further now that she is pregnant. He and Marcus keep things simple when it came to personal family business and this was becoming complicated. Not too many people knew that Savoy and Lightening were really blood brothers. He didn’t think Marcus would’ve lasted this long with one female. His brother is infamously known for hitting and running after a couple of weeks, no commitment from him. Savoy only knows of one person who Marcus gave his heart too several years ago, Coco. He even assumed they still fucked occasionally, while not now since Jay would kill the both of them. Savoy wants Jay back in his corner – a hundred. He would take care of his niece or nephew like he or she was his own child. Lately, he wishes the baby was his. He had to figure out a way to bring this forth. He wants to be happy too. He heard Buju’s, “walk like a champion” playing in his head.
Jay meant to call Lyric when she got home from the doctor’s office; however, her plans were sidetracked due to talking with Marcus and her aunt all evening. Another week had passed, she finally told Lyric before she is confronted by her. Lyric was definitely upset with her best friend. She couldn’t stay upset with her for too long though. They hugged, giggled, and started planning her baby shower. The femininity came out of both, Jay and Lyric, as they talked about what was needed for the baby. Jay had 4 more months of doctors visit, weigh gain, etc before the baby arrived. Lyric told her don’t worry about anything. I will plan and organize your baby shower. I’ll host it at the hotel where you and Marcus hooked up for the first time, the Wyndham to give it more meaning. Jay thought the idea was beautiful but too personal to be involving the hood. She suggested the Marriott on Russell St, the hall there is nice instead. Lyric reluctantly gave in. Lyric said okay. She asked food, colors, drinks, etc. Jay told her don’t turn this into a hood spectacular, remember if it gets out of hand I cannot give anyone the business. Lyric laughed. She said you know folks are going to show up just to be nosey. Jay had to agree. She knew people that weren’t invited would be in the house drinking, smoking, and gossiping the loudest to gain attention. Since Jay was in the sharing mood, she told Lyric about what happened to Walter. Lyric got upset. She feels partly responsible. She left him alone in the bar, had she knew that Ray and her crew were there she would have never had left him there alone. Ray knows not to touch her it would be like touching Jay. Jay informed that she better be ready to fly once the baby is born. Lyric told her I’m only in it to win it and then I’m falling back as if nothing happened. We don’t want her to see us coming. They high fived and went back to planning. Lyric missed her running partner. She also knew things would not be the same once the baby arrived. They used to do their thing together. Lyric assured Jay everything will work itself out; however, she had to remember she is about to be someone’s mother. Jay confidentially said I know, but I will not become anyone’s bitch motherhood or not. I still do what I do’s best. Lyric just smiled. They continued tossing around ideas until Marcus’ name was brought up. Jay said he should be fine with everything. I haven’t asked him for a dime. I want to do this on my own just in case. Lyric told her to stop being so blah and be positive, and for your information he gave me money for the shower. He thought I knew about the pregnancy a week ago when you were supposed to tell me. It’s all good. Jay apologized. She didn’t want to know how much he contributed. It must be a pretty penny with all the ideas Lyric continued to bring up between the three of them this shower will be the hood’s most expensive shower ever.
…4 weeks later the invites were sent out announcing Jay and Marcus’ baby shower. Pinkey is at her friend’s house and notices the announcement on her dresser. Pinkey asked her – are you going? Her buddy says hell yea, I’m going. You know anyone is big balling will be there. Pinkey knew this to be true. She wondered why Marcus didn’t invite her. He wasn’t even answering her calls so who was she kidding. Pinkey become enraged, Marcus never treated her like this before. From what she read, the soon to be parents rented out Club One, and just a room or level – the entire venue. They even secured Quick Silva to dj. He was not cheap not was he easily obtainable. A person usually had to book him 6 to 8 months in advance. Pinkey wasn’t invited, but all she knew is she is going to this baby shower. She hasn’t seen Jay since that night. She wanted to see what she looked like pregnant and how Jay and Marcus interacted with one another. When she and Marcus were fuck buddies, he never gave her more than that time together. They occasionally chatted on the phone, but that was it. He limited their time together. She thought that was going to change after the alleged threesome. It did change, now he didn’t fuck with her at all. It’s like she never existed to him. She thought quietly to herself, at least for now. He’ll be tearing up this pussy soon enough. I’m patient.
Jay still wasn’t as active since her stomach blew the hell up. She continues to pull in that dough. She doesn’t want to touch her stash or she will be required to stay hustling a little longer than necessary once the baby is born. Marcus’ pockets continue to inflate. He is trying to keep it on the low; however, he’s boys aren’t helping or as humble. They are being grandiloquent, which is bringing unwanted attention to him. He had to have the “frank Lucas” talk with them about being flashy, and how it weakens the crew. He told them no one needs to know how much you are worth, keep it to yourself that way no one can become jealous. Unknown the Marcus, his discussion was a week too late. Savoy as well as others noticed the changes amongst certain crew members. The expensive clothing, the increase in jewels, and one of Marcus’ boys had the nerve to drive around the hood in a fucking Maybach. Savoy wanted to know what is going on. He and his brother shared information with each other regularly when it came to opportunities to make money. Marcus wasn’t all about money like Savoy so he passed a lot of those opportunities to Savoy, something must have changed in their camp. He wanted some of whatever was going on in Marcus’ camp. He knew he couldn’t ask Jay outright. He would to be slick about it, in order, to get the information he sought.
Marcus understood that the appearance of the Maybach driving through the hood would be the beginning of drama. He hasn’t told Savoy about his deal with Flaming Records. He hit his top three riders off with some cash for being loyal over the years. The money came from his personal account. The money moved from one hand to another would appear legal, his attorney was on it. He told ole boy to put his car in storage for a month, He reverted back to his Mercedes Benz. Luckily, he was smart enough to finance it. He didn’t hit the dealer with any reportable amounts of money or they would have the IRS on their backs in addition to the clowns on the streets.
…two weeks later Savoy decides to throw an 80’s party. He rented out Sonar for the night. He charged the dudes 40$ and the females 25$ if in costume. It was more at the door, if a person didn’t feel like dressing up. He invited Jay and Marcus. Jay politely told him she didn’t think she will be able to make it. I don’t want to get sick from the odors of multiple drinks and weed that will be floating around nor do I want to go off on some random drunk bitch for bumping into me and the baby. You party would be ruined, and you know it. Savoy understood. He is definitely disappointed. He didn’t care if the party got stopped or he had to slap the shit out of some bitch on her behalf. He just wanted Jay on his side all night. His feelings moved from thoughts to him admitting to himself that his feelings were real, and he wanted her – he always has only his brother got her first somehow. It was definitely more than business. He had to play his position; Jay wasn’t the type to willing disrespect one man to attach herself with his brother or sister – not knowingly, anyway. She used to play hard, but never like that.
Marcus left Jay and Lyric at his her house. He had someone watching them. He needed to ensure she was okay at all times. He arrived at Sonar around 11 o’clock. He was dressed as Bill Crosby, his role as Dr. Huxtuble from the Crosby Show. He didn’t have on any gold, etc beyond his fronts and his favorite ring. It was a gift from Jay; she gave it to him three months into their relationship. It had the day they met engraved on the inside. The ring wasn’t flashy. It was a classic platinum ring with diamond clusters along the sides. Anyone who knew jewelry would be able to tell it was an expensive piece. Marcus only took off when he took his showers and when it went to bed. Marcus walked in alone. His boys were five minutes behind him. He didn’t want too much attention coming his way. He knew the bitches would be on him tonight once word got around that Jay wasn’t there with him. It didn’t take long before he was approached. He ignored the Salt-n-Pepa twins, while he looked through the crowd for Savoy. He surprised that Savoy was dressed like Big Daddy Kane. He was surrounded by a sea of women. He started to walk in that direction when the chick that looked like Salt grabbed his crotch. He looked down at her, and told her to remove her hand, he is already spoken for. Her retort was classic, she isn’t here so what she doesn’t know won’t hurt here. Marcus laughed, I’ll remember to tell her that when I get home…what is your name? I don’t want to misquote you. She released him and rolled her eyes before quickly walking away. By this time two of his boys were by his side, laughing. They heard the entire exchange. The music was loud, but not overbearingly so. He just shook his head in disgust. He pointed in the direction that he was heading in. It took him awhile to get to Savoy. He received his share of offers and numbers as he moved through the crowd. He declined and dropped the papers as he walked off. One or two numbers were passed to his boys. At last, he got his brother’s attention; they hugged and spoke briefly before parting ways. Marcus wanted no parts of Savoy’s women. It spelled trouble with a capital T. He told his boys they could linger if they wanted, only one stayed back. His boy wanted some Hispanic chick with some big ass knockers sitting in the corner. Marcus wasn’t worried that anything would happen to him. He stayed strapped and had no qualms about taking out a bitch. His boy didn’t believe in pillow talk beyond – we fucked, you sucked, and now I am leaving.
Back by the bar, Pinkey witnessed the exchange between Marcus and Savoy. She didn’t know that Marcus knew Savoy. She has to get near Savoy that would be her target tonight. He appeared to be open and flirtiest with all of the females around him. She would use that to her advantage. She knew he would be her gateway back to Marcus somehow. She would figure that part out later. She had to get into the circle around him quickly. Pinkey hoped he was a freak like Marcus so her next move had to be perfect. Her makeup and outfit was on point, so she finished her drink. She then proceeded to pull her home girl with her towards Savoy. Her home girl stopped her momentarily wanting to know where they were going. Pinkey casually said over there. There was a sea of women and five or six dudes that she could see. She agreed. They danced and wiggled their way through the crowd. Pinkey was dressed like Madonna, while her home girl was bit more reserved. She was dressed like a catholic school girl in uniform well except for the garter and high heels. They fitted right in with the crowd, all aiming to get Savoy’s attention.
It about midnight, Pinkey thinks she sees someone she knows. She leaves her home girls side, it didn’t matter to her. She was totally distracted by some Asian chick dropping it like its hot right in front of her. It seemed that everyone was getting what they thought they wanted, except for Pinkey. She cruise the crowd looking for her friend. The person she thought she knew well basically ignored her when she tapped her on her shoulder. Pinkey was embarrassed. There were witnesses to her moment. She couldn’t believe Carla would okay her like that, but then again people get brand new when they get money and Carla was swimming in it. She must have forgotten her not so humbling beginnings as a stripper on the block with Pinkey until she lucked up and got with Leroy. He ran with the Disciples.
Meanwhile, Jay is home and bored out of her mind wondering about the fun everyone is having except for her and Lyric. Lyric decided not to go at the last minute to support her pregnant friend. She knew she would be missing out on the honeys that Savoy’s parties attracted. She wouldn’t think about it. Her and Jay played Xbox, cards, and talked randomly about nothing before Jay said let’s go to the party. Lyric sat up. She couldn’t believe what she is hearing. Jay repeated her statement again since her friend acted like she was temporarily deaf. She had a sweat suit she could throw on that she’s never worn and a pair of Nike boots. She told Lyric to home and get dressed. Lyric smiled. She said I’ll be right back and went to her car. She returned 10 minutes later with her outfit in hand. Lyric’s outfit was hardly from the 80’s. She purchased a suit similar to the one Michael Jackson wore in his Smooth Criminal video. Jay asked her what was on your mind when you went shopping. Lyric said Michael Jackson of course. They were playing him on 92q right before I went into the mall. He is totally from the 80s. Jay shook her heads. She didn’t have a response. Her outfit was 80ish and comfortable for her present situation. She knew Savoy would give her a pass, which he didn’t give to too many people. She also knew her presence there would make his night.
They both showered and started to get dressed. Lyric caught herself admiring Jay’s body. The pregnancy has filled her in nicely, she thought to herself. Jay unaware of her admirer continued to get dressed. They were both ready 45 minutes later. Jay asked Lyric to drive there and she would drive her soon to be drunk ass home. Lyric told her I do not plan on drinking tonight on account of you. Jay said you don’t have to do that. Lyric’s final words, I want to so let’s go party before you change your pregnant mind. Once in the car, Lyric delicately asked did she inform Marcus of her sudden change of mind. Jay said no. I’m my own person and I don’t need his permission to go anywhere. She and Lyric laughed, but Jay took her phone out of her pocket to text Marcus. Before she could hit send, Marcus was calling her. She paused thinking what the hell… Lyric said who that is calling you at this hour. Jay showed her the phone, Lyric smiled. Jay answered her phone. She heard the music playing in the background. The party must be jumping. Marcus asked her where she was heading at this hour. She looked around and didn’t see his truck; however, she did notice a very familiar BMW parked in the lot.
She knew Marcus made sure she was always protected when he wasn’t around. She loved him for that. It is getting annoying now because his boys reported everything now that she is pregnant. She knows none of them wanted to be the one to tell him something happened to her and the baby. She proceeded to tell him that she and Lyric were on their way to Savoy’s party. She said I don’t plan in staying long. I just need to get out of the house. Lyric knew that not staying long part must be a mistake. She just stared at Jay until she finished her conversation. Jay informed her neither of them would have to drive since one of his boys is right here in the complex. She went on to say he will be waiting for us in the back bar. Jay and Lyric sat in the car waiting for La(mont). About 10 minutes later, La exited a building two doors down from her dwelling. He waved before going to his BMW that was parked further up. Jay asked Lyric to drive up to him and park. She could use the exercise in the morning, if Marcus doesn’t move her car himself when he stops by. Lyric was happy now she could sip sparingly She wouldn’t get totally drunk, she had to watch Jay’s back. The additional help is nice.
Ray is keeping a low profile. She’s at the party, just not around Savoy. She hoped her planned worked out. She had someone monitoring Jay’s whereabouts. She knows where Marcus is and he’s working the crowd like a true winner. She didn’t see him walk to any one female for too long. He knew better, she thought. Unfortunately, Ray didn’t know that Brock had a total dislike for La. He wanted to roll with Marcus back in the day when they were in Juvie, but Marcus was already rolling with some cats and told him maybe another time. He educated Brock that night telling him always keep your inner circle small this way you will who is trying to get at you. Brock wasn’t mad just saddened. He was impressed that an older kid would take the time out to school him on the game. One of his sidekicks too this as an opportunity to impress him, he walked up to Brock and sliced his face. Marcus told his boy that wasn’t necessary. Brock has this faded scar across his cheek. He always aimed to get his revenge, but he wasn’t ever able to catch La by himself. He is always with someone. Brock is on the roof of Jay’s building. He saw her and a female in her car. They never pulled off. They sat there for several minutes. He wondered what they were doing or who they were waiting on. He climbed down the free escape just in time to see La wave at them. He didn’t realize he was waving them down the street. Brock couldn’t believe his luck, La was by himself. Once he touched ground, he pulled his gun out and started shooting. He had forgotten all about his originally mission, revenge was on his mind.
He didn’t notice that Jay’s car started rolling into the gun fire. Lyric drove up to La’s BMW that’s when the first bullet of many shattered the back window of her Honda. Lyric always carried so she pulled her gun. She yelled at Jay to get down but wasn’t getting a response. She immediately started shooting back through the rear window. Her body was in an awkward position. She saw La shooting as well. After awhile the bullets stopped spraying their cars. La’s BMW was fucked up as well as Jay’s Honda. La made his way to Jay’s car crawling along the ground just in case shots started again. Brock eased up against the building attempting to get away before the police arrived. He heard sirens nearing. He didn’t like what he saw. La and Lyric had pulled Jay from the car and the female was rocking her pregnant body back and forth. Brock knew he was in definite trouble. Lyric started yelling at La that they needed to get Jay to the hospital. Jay had been hit in the shoulder and passed out. Lyric was concerned because Jay’s hands were clenching her stomach when she came to moments later. She was in shock asking about her baby. Brock made it up the street without being seen by anyone. He figured he will get away with it and Ray would be glad to her Jay was in the crossfire. The cops arrived and were everywhere on the scene – asking questions. La had to inquire twice about the ambulance for Jay. He took names and badge numbers. The officers were upset about his gun permit and the fact that they couldn’t haul him in. Marcus made all of them get licenses to carry for security purposes. He used his low celebrity to get done so if anyone in his immediate crew has to discharge a round they were covered; insurance was high as a bitch though.
Brock started getting nervous as he walked up the block. He had dropped his gun in the sewer a few blocks black and turned the corner. His concern was the sight of the ambulance. He could have sworn La was still standing, which meant it was one or both of the ladies in the car that were hit. He knew Savoy would kill him and Ray if anything happened to his unborn niece or nephew. He wanted to turn around so badly, yet, he knew better. He would have to deal with the consequences of his irrational behavior.
He had told Savoy Jay had changed her mind. His brother just smiled. Marcus become concerned since Jay, Lyric, and La hadn’t shown up as of yet to Sonar. It was only a 20 minute drive.
About an hour later, Jay and Lyric rode together to the hospital. The EMT said Jay would be alright although she has lost a lot of blood. They have to monitor the baby. Jay cried and cried uncontrollably the entire ride. She felt she knew who was behind the capper and it just landed her in a body bag.
While Jay and Lyric were on their way to Sinai Hospital, LA had to make the most terrifying call of his life. He knew Marcus was going to go off and demand answer he didn’t have at the moment. He also knew he would take his aggravation out on someone. He didn’t want it to be him. La called Marcus’ phone several time getting no answer. It went straight to voicemail after the fourth ring. He continued trying. The officer’s onsite still had questions for him. He told the officer’s he needed to attend to his pregnant cousin. He is trying to reach the baby’s father. The officer gave in. He told him they would pick up the questioning at the hospital. He took down La’s name, address and contact number. La jumped at his chance to get away from the cops. He couldn’t drive his car it would call to much attention to him but he had no other choice. He got into his BMW and drove to the hospital like a bat out of hell. He tried reaching Marcus again and again. Marcus answered on the third ring, asking where are you guys…did she change her mind again? You should be here by now. La sighed heavily into the hone. Marcus didn’t like that at all. Marcus asked what is wrong…where is Jay put her on the phone right now. La said he couldn’t do that. He blurted it all out, no tact at all. Marcus barked into the phone making heads turn around him. He said what the fuck you just say to me. His tone totally changed. His demeanor changed. La knew ‘Lightening’ and he is now on the other line. He tried explaining but Marcus kept cutting him off demanding answers La didn’t have. He wasn’t listening. La finally got him to calm down so could tell him where Jay and Lyric were taken.
Marcus hung up on La and ran through Sonar. He didn’t care whose drink he knocked over or what person he bumped into. He had to get to his two babies. Whoever is responsible for this just signed up for a death wish. While he ran through the crowd, he pushed Pinkey down not knowing. Her back was to him so she didn’t recognize the culprit until he was a great distance away. She went off every around her heard her threat to him and Jay. Several people moved away from her, they wanted no parts of her drama. Most assumed she was a washed up stripped, that’s what she looked like looked, trying to get notoriety.
Someone tapped Savoy shoulder, and pointed at Marcus running towards the door. Savoy knew his brother never runs from a fight so something serious must be going on. He noticed that Marcus didn’t collect his boys that came with him to the party. Savoy casually walked up to each of them at their various spots in the club to tell them to go check on Marcus something is wrong. They all said he’s good. He texted is and told us to hold our positions and await his next move. Savoy knew his brother was smart. He knew that too much movement from a party like this would call attention. Savoy asked what has him running like that. One of Marcus’ boys respectfully mentions something has happened to Jay on her way here. Savoy dropped his drink. He grabbed ole’ boy and demanded to know what happened to her. He told Savoy to release him. Savoy eased up and brushed his shoulders off telling him it’s nothing personal. He said we don’t have all of the details. Marcus’ message was encrypted. Although, I believe it is extremely serious. Savoy stormed off. He had to get a hold of either Jay or Marcus or there would be problems in the hood like no other. No one could afford that right now but vengeance would take place.
