PLAYTIME

 Chapter 8

As Kima peered out the window she realized the mystery woman was Leslie, their neighbor from up the street. Marc spoke with her for about 5 minutes or so. Leslie walked back in the direction of her house and Marc walked toward their house. Upon entering Kima asked, “What’s up with Leslie?”

“She wanted Mike’s (the mechanic) number. Her clutch needs to be replaced.”

“Oh. I wanted to ask you about renting a house @ the beach.”

“We can do that. Find one and use the Amex to pay for it.” Marc instructed. Kima went back upstairs and resumed her online search. She found 3 houses that were the right price and in the right location. She called Sephora so they could make a decision together.

“You found a hotel?” Sephora asked, answering on the first ring. She was super excited.

“No, I did one better…I found a house.”

“A house? Damn, how much more is that gonna cost?” Sephora asked.

“Don’t worry, Marc told me to put it on his Amex.”

“Ballin’!!!” Sephora yelled out like she was Jim Jones. They both laughed.

“Hey did you talk to Dorian?” Sephora questioned.

“Kinda, I mean I tried. I texted her saying we needed to talk and she texted me back saying it was over. I didn’t think it would be that easy-breezy. As a matter of fact, it was too easy. Imma watch my back, I suggest you do the same. She’s a sneaky bitch.” Kima warned.

“She seemed to take it well from me. She said she wasn’t mad and that she understood. But I guess a mouth can and ill say anything. I will heed your advice regardless.” Just then Sephora’s phone beeped. It was Reggie.

“Hey Kima that’s Reg calling…lemme call you back.”

“Okay. Let him know about the house. Bye.”

“Bye.”

“Hey baby.” Sephora said when she clicked over.

“Hey sexy…what you doin?”

“Cooking.”

“What’s for dinner?”

“Glazed ham, fried potatoes n onions, string beans and cornbread.”

“On my way!” Reggie said delighted and hung up. He loved Sephora’s cooking. It was the best next to his mothers. Reggie was there in 20 minutes. When he walked in Sephora had his plate made, sitting on a tray in front of the TV. As he sat down she came out of the kitchen with a tall, icy glass of her homemade sweet tea and placed it on the tray next to his plate. The watched Training Day as they ate. When the movie was over Sephora told Reggie about Kima’s plan to rent a house @ the beach as opposed to renting 2 hotel rooms.

“Marc knows she spending that kind of money?” Reggie asked.

“Yep, he told her to put it on his Amex.”

Reggie knew Marc had a nice “rainy day” stash. Marc had been with Pepco for almost 4 years and his paycheck proved it. Kima was the office manager for the largest and most prominent Internal Medicine office in the area. They were ballin and could easily afford to rent a house @ the beach for a week. But Reggie didn’t want Marc to show him up…they had always had a friendly competition when it came to material things. With Reggie working for Metro and Sephora working for Verizon they were in good financial standing as well.

“Well if they are gonna pay for the house then I will rent an Escalade or Hummer, so that no1 will have to put any miles on their car.” Reggie stated.

“Okay, that’s what’s up. I will let Kima know.”

The rest of the evening was smooth sailing.
